29 April to 07 May, 2024,

Narayan Ashram, Dharchula, Phithoragarh, Uttarakhand

Narayan Ashram, situated approximately 136 kilometers north of Pithoragarh and 14 kilometers from Tawaghat. Nestled at an altitude of 2734 meters amid picturesque landscapes. Founded in 1936 by Sri Raghavendra, known locally as Narayan Swami, this serene retreat blends spirituality with socio-educational initiatives. Before the 1962 Indo-China War, it was a key rest stop for Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims.

SIDH organized an immersive retreat in Narayan Ashram. We believe the unique energy, location, and history of Narayan Ashram play a significant role in fostering the spirit of samvaad (dialogue) among retreat participants. This is why we carefully select venues that enrich the atmosphere for contemplation and self-discovery.
Our retreat brought together individuals who share a journey of self-exploration and strive to refine their drishti (perspective). The dialogue was contemplative, unhurried, and meditative, interwoven with moments of spontaneous silence. Participants held equal responsibility in shaping the insights that emerged, both ndividually and collectively.

We introduced selected texts—excerpts from the writings of J. Krishnamurthy, Professor A.K. Saran, Ananda Coomaraswamy, Dharampal, and others—to serve as prompts for deeper reflection. These texts were used to challenge ingrained beliefs and to help participants make meaningful connections within themselves.

Throughout, our focus was on fostering self-reflective listening and speaking.
