Illuminations, a book by Professor A.K. Saran, one of modern India’s most distinguished scholars, is grounded in the profound insight that to live a full life, we must break free from the confines of modernity. The book proposes a unique method: reading, contemplating, and discussing brief passages from the works of perceptive modern philosophers. Through contemplation and dialogue on the passages that resonate with us, we may begin to see beyond the illusions of modernity.
The Illuminations retreat, organized by SIDH in November 2022, was met with great appreciation. Following its success, SIDH organized Illuminations Part 2, where participants engaged in a continued journey of reflective conversation.
- Participants: A curated group of 32 like-minded individuals aligned with A.K. Saran's ideas. This was an invite-only event, not open to the public.
- Location: Swarg Ashram, Near Ram Jhula, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.
- Dates: 26th April and Sunday, 30th April, 2023
- Format: The workshop was facilitated by Pawan Kumar Gupta and Arun Elassery, who served as anchor and guide for the retreat.
